PORTLAND, Ore. — Monday marked the grand opening of the in Northeast Portland. The new clinic is devoted to helping people who’ve experienced sexual, physical or psychological violence. “Patient choice, autonomy and empowerment is really at the center of everything that we do,” said Katie Schafer, the program manager of the S.A.F.E. Center. Schafer said this has been in the works for five years. And now, she’s beyond excited to continue expanding its mission with this new clinic.

A Portland family is speaking out after a 78-year-old man was mauled by a homeless woman’s dog, causing severe injury to his left arm. The attack happened on December 2 around 10:30 a.m., near the corner of MLK Boulevard and Knott Street, where Elizabeth Iverson said her dad, Roland, had been on his daily morning walk on the same route he’s taken for over 40 years.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland’s latest street takeover is shedding ongoing safety concerns from nearby businesses. The Portland Police Bureau (PPB) says it’s aware of the event that happened on Sunday off Southeast Morrison and 2nd Avenue, telling KGW they have officers monitoring the situation for hours. "What really strikes me is how very dangerous it is how close those cars are," said Bridged Blackburn, the co-owner of Cargo.

PORTLAND, Ore. — The city of Portland has decided to keep an overnight women's shelter in Old Town open at least through the end of the month. The shelter came about after the city of Portland and Multnomah County collectively invested $750,000 for 200 overnight beds as part of their winter shelter plan. Back in January, the two governments announced that this funding would secure two overnight shelters to operate for only 90 days.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Javonnie Johnson's life has forever changed after a dog viciously attacked her last Thursday morning. She is 68 years old and has been with FedEx for over a decade. Johnson says she parked her car in a lot across the street from her job site. As she crossed the street, that's when she says the dog attacked and latched onto her left calf. "You see this dog chomping on my leg," said Johnson.
