BROWNSTOWN — It was another interesting season for the Brownstown Central Track program, as the girls’ team brought home their first sectional title in 14 years. The program came together to celebrate the season on Wednesday night during their annual awards banquet. The girls’ team posted an overall record of 34-6 in the regular season, finishing up a 50-8 after the end of the year. The girls went 6-2 in the Mid-Southern Conference.

Tuesday night was a celebration of the best varsity girls’ tennis season in Trinity Lutheran school history, as the Cougars held their annual banquet, reflecting a 13-5 season. The Cougars had plenty of youth, but it didn’t bother them, and for head coach Brad Emerson, he thought the team gained plenty of experience over the past season, which he said would help them going forward. “Well, I think we had some youth that gained a lot of experience in matches,” he said.

If you want to talk about ‘changing the narrative’ look no further than the 2024-25 Seymour varsity girls’ softball team, who completely shifted their fortunes from the previous season. The Lady Owls tripled their win total and competed for a sectional title, finishing the year with a 17-9 record, after finishing 5-17 the year prior. First-year head coach Jason Enrique spoke about the turnaround season. “I think it was a very positive experience for everybody involved.

Two of the best right-handed arms to come through Seymour were honored for their senior seasons last month during the announcement of the Indiana High School Baseball Coach Association district awards. Braden Richey earned District N Player of the Year for his stellar season on the mound. Richey was the definition of dominant for Seymour during the season. The future Anderson Ravens pitcher compiled a 7-1 record and earned a save. He struck out 89 batters across 56.2 innings of work.

WASHINGTON— Two Seymour golfers took center stage Thursday at Country Oaks Golf Course for the IHSAA Washington Regional in Zarik Black and Kirby Tormoehlen. Both players were hoping to advance to the state finals. Both Seymour players posted solid rounds, but were not able to advance to the next round. Tormoehlen carded an 85 to lead the Owls, followed by Black’s 92. “I’m very proud of Zarik and Kirby for their performances,” Seymour head coach Jim Hoffman said.
