The Tribune (Seymour, IN)

The Seymour Daily Republican was established in 1885 and became known as the Seymour Daily Tribune in 1920. On September 10, 1994, it was further simplified to just The Tribune. In more recent years, the newspaper came under the ownership of Freedom Communications, which was located in Orange County, California, and was once the 12th largest media company in the U.S. However, Freedom filed for bankruptcy in 2009, and over the following three years, it sold off all its television stations and newspapers situated east of the Rocky Mountains, including The Tribune.

Seymour used the third inning to score all of their runs, leading to a 3-0 victory over the visiting Panthers. Aaron Holt singled to left field to begin the frame before Brady Harpe and Parker Thompson reached base with bunts.

CROTHERSVILLE — It’s been a steady road of improvement for the Crothersville baseball program over the course of this spring, led by first-year head coach Ricky Bray. The Tigers showed some flashes when they hosted South Central on Saturday, losing 18-6 to the Rebels, collecting eight hits as a team. Even though it goes into the books as a loss, it was just the fourth time all season that they were able to score more than five runs.

Pitching, defense and hitting at the right time carried Brownstown Central to a victory over Trinity Lutheran on Friday night. The Lady Braves made all the plays on defense, limiting the Cougars to one hit throughout the night from Addison Burcham, holding on for the 5-1 victory over the county rival. BC didn’t waste any time to score some runs, taking the early 2-0 lead in the first inning.

BROWNSTOWN — There’s nothing quite like having a skilled big man on the basketball floor and that was Colby Hall for the Brownstown Central boys’ basketball program over the course of his career. The senior was a double-double threat on any given night he took the floor. Hall took the next step in his athletic journey Thursday afternoon when he signed to Spring Arbor University in Michigan. “They came a little later in my recruiting process,” Hall said.

Probably the best thing for the Indiana Fever with Kelsey Mitchell other than her being in Indianapolis after a “whew” period of worry time, is that the WNBA team did not have to pay a tariff to China to get her back in Indiana. Given the ups and downs of the Trump Administration tariff world, who knew if Shanxi would have been smacked with a tariff tax for Mitchell to resume her basketball career in the United States.
