PLAINVIEW — Exhausted and elated. Those emotions best described how North Central’s Angele Frick felt at the conclusion of Wednesday’s Class D-4 district meet, and understandably so. The junior went the maximum 16 laps around the oval to come away with four gold medals and help lead the Knights to a team championship. Frick won individual titles in the 800, 1,600 and 3,200-meter runs and also anchored North Central’s winning 4x800 relay. “I’m tired but excited for state,” Frick said.

Will Brockhaus produced a fitting conclusion to both his round and the performance of the host team at Monday’s Norfolk Catholic invite. Brockhaus finished off his 3-under par 69 with an eagle on the 520-yard hole No. 18 at Norfolk Country Club. It capped off a strong day for Brockhaus and the Knights as a whole. Norfolk Catholic also placed Brayden Kosch and Callen Marshall in the top three spots to finish with a 311 and beat out both Summerland and Scotus Central Catholic by 39 strokes.

North Platte’s aggressive approach on the basepaths and clutch hitting helped the Bulldogs end Norfolk High’s season on Thursday. Among North Platte’s 13 hits were five that produced two-out runs to down the Panthers 6-3 in a Class A-2 district tournament first-round game at Veterans Memorial Field. North Platte (8-16) never trailed after scoring two runs in the top of the first and extended its road trip, which takes the Bulldogs to No. 2 overall seed Papillion-La Vista South (22-8) on Friday.

STANTON — Each of the team champions at the East Husker Conference track and field meet had their own reason that their title was a little extra special. For the Stanton boys, it was taking advantage of the opportunity to win a conference crown on their home track on Saturday. For Pender’s girls, it was winning the school’s first conference track and field team title — boys or girls.
