NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) - A MNPS student was arrested for bringing a semi-automatic pistol to school Tuesday morning. Metro Police say the student is a senior at Maplewood High School. The gun was found inside the student's backpack after the Evolv detection system alerted staff to check the student as he came into the building. Police say the student is charged with bringing a weapon onto school property and unlawful gun possession in juvenile court.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) - A man was shot and killed late Wednesday at the Lock 4 Park boat ramp in Gallatin. Police say 30-year-old Miles Hanna was found dead near the second boat launch location just after 11:15 p.m. Wednesday. 24-year-old Will Wheatley was arrested by Gallatin PD following their investigation into what led to the shooting. Police say the shooting happened after an argument between the two men. Wheaton has been charged with manslaughter in relation to the shooting.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) - An MNPD officer was injured late Monday night after the cruiser they were driving was hit by a driver charged with DUI. According to an affidavit, the incident happened just after 11 o'clock Monday night on Gallatin Pike. A vehicle driven by 38-year-old Phillip Deark pulled out in front of the MNPD cruiser after not yielding. The MNPD cruiser struck the passenger side of the vehicle causing the officer to have cuts and bruises from the crash.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) - A man has been charged with the deaths of a father and son following a crash early Thursday morning on I-24 East near the Davidson-Rutherford County line. Police say 25-year-old Daniel Caravaca-Bonilla was behind the wheel of a truck when it hit another truck from behind with a 45-year-old man and his 72-year-old father from Illinois inside. Metro Police say traffic was slowing down due to construction in the area when the collision happened.

But wait, there's more. LeBrun reports the Preds are also signing two defensemen in Jonathan Marchessault and Brady Skjei. Contract details will be confirmed by the organization, but early reports show the team dedicating more than $20 million a season to the new signings.
