The Cardinals had two games in May that were exclusively streamed, on Apple TV+, and now begin June with another streamed-only contest — this time on Roku. Roku televises MLB games early on Sundays through Sept. 7, some beginning as early as 10:35 a.m. (St. Louis time) and dubbed “Sunday Leadoff” contests, and this weekend the Cards make the first of their two appearances this season on the package when they play 12:05 p.m. in Texas against the Rangers.

For more than three decades, KFNS has taken a wild, rollicking and erratic run as St. Louis’ longest-running sports-talk radio station, one with an alumni roster that includes many of the market’s best-known sports talkers. But 590 AM also has a dark underbelly, and its overall legacy is unrivaled by any other local station — likely nationally as well.

The Cardinals make their second appearance of the season Friday on Apple TV+’s package of exclusively streamed MLB games when they entertain the Arizona Diamondbacks at 7:15 p.m.Apple shows doubleheaders on Fridays throughout the season, and its deal with MLB prohibits local telecasts of those contests. Thus there will be no coverage on regular Cardinals TV outlets FanDuel Sports Network, KMOV (Channel 4) or Matrix Midwest (Channel 32). FanDuel also will not stream the game.

Steve Savard is heading home. But unlike the last time he moved back to St. Louis, where he grew up, he doesn’t have a job lined up. Savard made his last homecoming in 1994, when KMOV (Channel 4) hired him as a sportscaster after working his way up at multiple stops. He eventually was promoted to sports director, then in 2013 shifted to co-anchoring the station’s nighttime newscasts.

Expect the Kansas City Chiefs to be all over St. Louis television again this year, as each of their 15 games that will not be exclusively streamed are expected to be shown on TV in the Gateway City. This season’s NFL schedule was announced Wednesday night, and the Chiefs are tabbed for eight “standalone” games — nationally broadcast affairs in time slots when no other NFL contests are being played.
