Running in the 2025 Festival of Miles at St. Louis University High School, Hedengren obliterated the girls national high school record for a mile run, clocking in at 4 minutes and 23.50 seconds to win the event's Girls Championship Mile. Hedengren owned the previous record of 4:26.14 set in March in New York.

    WEBSTER GROVES — Webster University’s president is out. Julian Schuster said he is “officially retiring” after 15 years at the university headquartered in St. Louis’ suburbs. His last day was May 31. “It has been a long journey filled with joy and pride,” Schuster wrote in an announcement on LinkedIn.The Webster University Board of Trustees declined to renew Schuster’s contract last fall, sources previously told the Post-Dispatch.

    ST. LOUIS — A man from southwest Missouri is charged with stealing used cooking oil from John D. McGurk’s Irish Pub and Garden in Soulard. Last month, McGurk's staff told police about thefts of grease totaling more than $2,100. The first of three thefts was on April 14, the last on May 7, court records said. Ronald Dean Braden, 39, was charged Tuesday with two counts of felony stealing and one count of misdemeanor stealing. Bond was set at $10,000 cash.

    The murder trial for Sammy Shafer Jr., accused of hiring a hit man to kill his wife's girlfriend, could be moved out of Madison County. Claiming the jury pool in that county is tainted, defense lawyers for Shafer filed a motion last month for a change of venue. They are asking that the trial be held outside of Madison County in order to find an impartial jury. No firm trial date has been set before Judge Tim Berkeley.
