Hole saws work well in a variety of woods, but they tend to clog quickly, stop cutting, and start heating up. Instead of forcing them downward through the cut, drill down to the depth of the teeth and retract the saw. Then, without shutting off the drill press, you can unclog the teeth by pressing a wire or stiff nylon brush against the side of the saw that’s spinning away from you. Now drill a little deeper and repeat the process, until you have drilled through the workpiece.

If you need to make an even roundover or chamfer on a round pin or dowel, see if it’s small enough to chuck in your handheld drill. If so, drill a hole in a wood block, 1⁄32 in. larger than the dowel, clamp the block to the bench, and use the drill to spin the dowel. You’ll have one hand free to sand a perfect chamfer or roundover on the dowel. Use a handsaw to trim it to final length.

This year’s @DallasStars seem like they’re having so much fun. I was able to watch warmups with my son at a recent game and the smiles and laughter really showed up across the board. It comes across in practice and interviews too. It’s something you love to see as a fan!
