The 129th Boston Marathon will be held on Monday, April 21, with about 30,000 runners. Defending champions Sisay Lemma and Hellen Obiri will return to compete. Runners from various MetroWest and Greater Milford communities, ranging in age from 18 to 78, are also participating. They come from throughout the world, to toe the starting line in Hopkinton for the 26.2-mile trip to Boston on Monday, April 21. Thirty thousand strong. Give or take. Erikson's Ice Cream in Maynard will open for the season on Saturday, April 5. The ice cream stand was voted the best in eastern Massachusetts in a Wicked Local poll last summer. The business has been owned and operated by the same family since 1901. MILFORD — Executives from local company Waters Corp. got to start their workday on Tuesday with a ding. A contingent of Waters executives, including CEO Udit Baltra, were invited to Wall Street to ring the opening bell for Tuesday's trading on the New York Stock Exchange. They were joined by Joseph Tama, NYSE listings regional head, Northeast, for the occasion. The ringing of the bell declares when trading begins each weekday (at 9:30 a.m. EST) and when it must stop (4 p.m. EST).

HOPKINTON —The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) announced this morning that the right two lanes on the Mass Pike (Interstate 90) westbound at the Interstate 495 interchange have been closed for emergency repair operations after a construction trench settlement formed in the low-speed lane due to nearby construction.  In a press release, MassDOT officials said crews are working to fix the issue and reopen lanes.

CONCORD — Authorities are investigating an incident in which an MBTA Commuter Rail train collided with a car Sunday evening at the Conant Street crossing in West Concord. In a press release, Concord Fire Chief Thomas Judge said the car's sole occupant, who was not immediately identified, suffered "minor injuries." The person was transported to Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington by Concord Fire EMS with assistance from Pro Ambulance ALS medics.
