Minnesota officials said they were still searching for Vance Luther Boelter, who was last seen in the Twin Cities area. Authorities say a Minnesota lawmaker and her husband were killed and another lawmaker and his wife were injured at their homes by a man impersonating law enforcement in what Gov. Tim Walz called a “politically motivated assassination.”Law enforcement officials identified the suspect as Vance Luther Boelter, 57.

A federal judge ruled the Trump administration could keep Mahmoud Khalil in custody under a secondary legal argument. On June 13, U.S. District Judge Michael Farbiarz, of New Jersey, rejected the 30-year-old Palestinian Columbia University graduate's request to be released after three months in immigration detention. On June 11, Farbiarz initially ruled Khalil couldn't be detained by Secretary of State Marco Rubio's determination that he threatened American foreign policy interests.

A Utah judge on June 6 ruled a 67-year-old convicted murderer diagnosed with dementia on death row is competent enough to be executed. A trial court sentenced Ralph Leroy Menzies to death in 1988 for kidnapping, robbing and murdering 26-year-old Maurine Hunsaker, a married mother with three children. Since then, Menzies has been on death row. Menzies had chosen firing squad as his method of execution, according a ruling published by KUTV.
