The ambitious Jersey-born football coach will have an adventurous Jersey quarterback headlining his 2026 University of Washington recruiting class. Jedd Fisch's recruiters aimed high by pursuing two of the highest-rated signal-callers across the country in this cycle -- one from Los Angeles and the other just outside of New York City -- and on Saturday received a commitment from the one who was three time zones away, Derek Zammit of Wayne, New Jersey.

Nate Calmese will be remembered as one of the great mistakes of the Mike Hopkins coaching era of University of Washington basketball -- with everyone convinced the 6-foot-2 guard could play except the now long departed Husky leader. Alphonzo Tuputala came in as the least heralded linebacker in his UW class and had to prove himself. The NFL will require the same from him. https://t.co/LwbGWb0sZ1
