    NewsThe high school will be at the current East building but will get a new name & mascot. The landscape of athletics is changing in the Youngstown City Schools in the 2026-27 school year. Superintendent Jeremy Batchelor announced there will be one high school starting that year. The high school, which will be at the current East building will get a new name and mascot.  School officials will meet with stake holders and the public to decide the new name.

Ohio High School Athletic Association Executive Director Doug Ute told 21 Sports, via zoom, there's a serious concern of 16 weeks being too long. Last month football coaches and administrators answered a survey pertaining to the current 16 team per region format. "We're going to pinpoint some things down when we talk about it (survey) in our office next week," said Ute.

The Bald and Fat Classic is an adult tournament and is part of a series around the country and will be at Hubbard High School May 17. All wrestlers must be at least 18 years old and not competing for an Olympic team. Its a double elimination tournament and there are three "one minute" periods.
