Vikings legendary defensive lineman Jim Marshall, a founding member of the Purple People Eaters, died on Tuesday following a lengthy hospitalization. He was 87. Though he was born in Wilsonville, Kentucky, and attended high school and college in Columbus, Ohio, Marshall eventually made a home in the Twin Cities after an illustrious career with the Vikings. There aren’t many people on the planet who embodied what it meant to be a Viking quite like he did.
