On the first pitch of his at-bat, Jones made a mighty swing on a hanging curveball from Dallas Baptist pitcher Ashton Branson, creating a hitter’s favorite sound. All present acted accordingly. The Fans. The home dugout. The visitor’s dugout, which was met with a dead silence.

Spring games used to be a major facet of the college football offseason. Recently, however, that has gone to the wayside. Texas, Nebraska and Oklahoma, among other Power 4 programs, have cancelled their spring games in favor of player “combines” and open practices. Initially, Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy planned on following that trend and holding something similar.
