Tulsa World

The Tulsa World serves as the daily newspaper for Tulsa, Oklahoma, and is the leading publication for the northeastern and eastern regions of the state. It ranks as Oklahoma's second-most circulated newspaper, following The Oklahoman. Established in 1905, it remained locally owned for its first 108 years, with the Lorton family being its owners for 96 of those years. In recent times, the newspaper has seen a slight decline in circulation and has reduced its staff. It also shares some editorial content with The Oklahoman. In February 2013, it was announced that the paper would be sold to Berkshire Hathaway’s BH Media Group, which is overseen by Warren Buffett. In its early years, the World took a strong editorial stand for the construction of a reservoir on Spavinaw Creek and actively opposed the Ku Klux Klan during the 1920s. From 1941 until 1992, it was operated in partnership with the Tulsa Tribune.
