Locals in the border town of Bridgend have called for action to be taken over repeated instances of dangerous driving in the area. The calls come after a video was shared on social media which showed a car drifting on a busy roundabout in the town yesterday evening. Within the video, posted by the Cónaitheroirí Burt group on social media, a silver Lexus can be seen drifting around the roundabout a number of times, forcing all traffic in the area to wait.

There is widespread heartbreak across the Inishowen Peninsula this morning following the devastating fire that ripped through the Doagh Famine Village yesterday evening. The full scale of the damage is still being assessed this morning, but it is understood that at least two sections of the Famine Village have been fully destroyed – a replica Orange Hall containing information about the peace process, and an area that documented the history of the travelling community.

It has been confirmed that all wards at St Joseph’s Hospital in Stranorlar will be open once again in the coming weeks. Several of the community hospital’s wards were forcibly closed last August, following an inspection from HIQA (the Health Information and Quality Authority). That inspection found five major non-compliances at St Joseph’s, including issues with governance and management, the quality and safety of the premises and insufficient fire precautions.

Win or lose in the Ulster Championship Final against Armagh in two weeks’ time – Donegal are set for a tough draw in the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship group phase. Should they repeat last year’s Ulster title success, Donegal would be placed in Group 1 alongside the runner up in Connacht between Galway and Mayo – and two of their fiercest provincial rivals in fellow Ulster sides Tyrone and Cavan.

Paul Doherty will tackle the unique challenge to raise money for the suicide awareness charity in his own way. On the same night that thousands around the country will do the Darkness into Light walk for Pieta, Paul will set off on his 100 mile endurance challenge.
