The world's first official SEGA store opened in Shanghai on May 1st, 2025. This opening, while part of Sega’s own business strategy, also signals a recent larger commercial trend in China that has seen thousands of stores dedicated to Japanese pop culture merchandise emerge all over the country. This new store sort of replaces the temporary pop-up shop that opened in the city back in January 2025, and remained open until the end of March.

I believe Hazelight Studios upcoming Split Fiction will sell considerably less than It Takes Two did in its initial months, at least. I used to dabble in industry predictions, and it’s something I still enjoy doing from time to time, although I didn’t do much on this platform. This post changes that.
