Glen Rieche of Elburgon DEB Secondary School died on the spot after a stray bullet hit his heart during protests by residents near Elburgon Police Station. The residents had stormed the police station in protest of what they said was the failure of the officers to fight crime.

    Three out of eight widows of the late maverick politician Kihika Kimani have won big after the High Court partially distributed his estate on Friday. In Justice Samwel Mohochi’s verdict, Margaret Wambui, Alice Mukuhi, and Jane Wanjiru and their 23 children got a huge share of the estate. The judge ruled that Mary Wangari, Winnie Wanjeri, Charity Nyambura, Mirriam Warau, and Lucy Wangari had no proof why the estate should be divided equally among the eight widows.

    The family of missing fisherman Brian Odhiambo, 31, were on Saturday morning, briefly arrested by the police during a protest. Odhiambo went missing on January 18, 2025, with the family claiming he was among those arrested by officers from the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), before he disappeared without a trace. Odhiambo’s wife Alvy Okello said that the police arrested her, Odhiambo’s mother, Elizabeth Auma, and his brothers Carlos Otieno and John Omenge, near Lake Nakuru National Park’s gate.

    Five suspects, who appeared before a Nakuru court charged with the murder of Molo civil rights activist Richard Otieno, will remain in custody after denying the charges. Geoffrey Ndungu, Peter Oketch, Joseph Kihara, Stephen Masheti, and Evans Aseka, who appeared before Justice Patricia Gichohi, denied killing Otieno on 10 January 2025 in Elburgon, Nakuru County. The prosecution, led by Emma Okok, opposed their release on bail.
