FIBA Kayleigh Heckel will depart UConn’s summer workouts early to participate in USA Basketball’s U19 National Team trials in Colorado Springs, the team announced on Thursday. Beginning on June 18, she’ll compete for a spot on the 12-player roster ahead of the FIBA U19 World Cup in Czechia. Heckel previously represented the US at the 2024 FIBA U18 AmeriCup. She won gold and earned a spot on the all-tournament second team after averaging 12.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists.

On Monday, the State of Connecticut announced the Holyoke, Massachusetts-based company purchased the naming rights to the venue, which had been known as the XL Center since 2007. CT Insider reported the deal is worth $20 million over 10 years.

Ian Bethune/The UConn Blog Qadence Samuels has a new home. After transferring from UConn in April, the Forestville, Maryland native signed with the NC State Wolfpack on Saturday. She’ll have two years of eligibility left. “[Transferring] was a good move for her because she loves to play,” Geno Auriemma said of Samuels after UConn’s championship parade.
