Ian Bethune/The UConn Blog UConn women’s basketball’s annual contest at Mohegan Sun Arena will have a new look this season. The Basketball Hall of Fame Women’s Showcase is set to change to a tournament format, so the Huskies will play Utah on Nov. 21 followed by either Michigan or Syracuse on Nov. 23 in Uncasville, Connecticut. Tip-time and broadcast information will be announced later while tickets go on sale on Friday, Sept. 5.

Ian Bethune Dorka Juhász will sit out the 2025 WNBA season to focus rest and recovery, the Minnesota Lynx announced on Sunday. Since her final year at UConn in 2022-23, she’s been playing year-round in both the WNBA and overseas. A native of Pecs, Hungary, Juhász was taken in the second round (16th overall) by the Lynx in the 2023 WNBA Draft. Over her first two seasons, she established herself as a solid role player, averaging 5.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.9 assists across 72 games.

The Huskies claimed the Big East Tournament championship with a 18-4 run-rule victory over Creighton on Saturday to punch their ticket to the big dance. UConn (35-17, 18-6 Big East) landed in the Baton Rouge Regional as a 3-seed, where it’ll face 2-seed Nebraska on Friday at 3 p.m. ET. No. 10 overall seed LSU is the host, taking on 4-seed Southeast Louisiana.

Ian Bethune/The UConn Blog After spending the last 10 years with the program, UConn women’s basketball assistant coach Ben Kantor is leaving to join the staff at Georgia Tech. He worked as the the Huskies’ video coordinator from 2015-2022 before being promoted to a non-recruiting assistant for the last two seasons. Kantor now heads to a Yellow Jacket program led by first-year head coach Karen Blair. His time in Storrs was bookended with national championships in 2016 and 2025.
