BALLSTON — A Ballston Lake woman was arrested Thursday after a two-car crash on Midline Road in the town of Ballston, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office. Sarah M. Lopez-Hinds, 31, was charged with aggravated DWI, DWI, and operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content of .08% or greater, all unclassified misdemeanors. The crash occurred at 7:02 p.m. when deputies responded to the scene of the property damage accident.

EAST FISHKILL — Two local residents were arrested Thursday after allegedly breaking into a home on Railroad Avenue and later assaulting one of the homeowners, police said. The East Fishkill Police Department responded to a reported burglary in progress at approximately 7:44 p.m. on April 17. Officers determined that two suspects had unlawfully entered a residence and stolen various items of property.

NORTH TONAWANDA — A 57-year-old man was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle that fled the scene Thursday night in North Tonawanda. The North Tonawanda Police Department responded to the 1200 block of Payne Avenue at approximately 10 p.m. April 17 following reports of a pedestrian-vehicle collision. Officers and members of the North Tonawanda Fire Department provided immediate aid to the victim at the scene.

LOUISVILLE — State Police responded to a report of a two-car collision with injuries on State Highway 37 at approximately 9:58 p.m. Tuesday. Upon arrival, troopers found a red 2013 Buick and a white 2006 Ford pickup truck off the roadway in a ditch. The investigation revealed that the driver of the Buick was identified as Travis M. Smutz, 40, from Massena.

VALLEY STREAM — The Valley Stream Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire at the intersection of Damson Lane and Woodland Road just before 3 p.m. Tuesday. Upon arrival, Chief Anthony Capone discovered a motorcycle on fire that was quickly spreading to two nearby homes. Firefighters rapidly extinguished the blaze, preventing further damage to the residences. Mutual aid was provided by the Elmont, Malverne, and Lawrence Cedarhurst Fire Departments.

SCHENECTADY — A domestic dispute turned deadly Thursday evening when a man shot his wife before taking his own life, according to Schenectady police. Officers responded to 540 North End Drive at approximately 7:19 p.m. after neighbors reported an altercation. Upon arrival, officers heard a woman screaming from an upstairs apartment that a man had a gun. As officers entered the building and climbed the stairs of a common hallway, they heard two gunshots from inside the apartment.

SOUTHEAST — The Brewster Fire Department responded to a house fire on Seven Oaks Lane in Southeast on April 17 at 12:45 p.m., according to Fire Chief Michael Miller. The elderly homeowner, identified as a U.S. veteran, escaped the blaze unharmed but was later transported to Danbury Hospital for observation by Brewster EMS. Chief Miller arrived on scene within minutes and called for a second alarm, bringing in mutual aid from fire departments throughout Putnam and Northern Westchester counties.

ADDISON — New York State Police responded to a fatal residential structure fire Thursday morning at 8752 State Route 417 in the town of Addison, Steuben County. Multiple area fire departments were dispatched to the scene. First responders located an unconscious male on the second level of the residence. The individual was extracted from the structure, and CPR was administered at the scene. Despite life-saving efforts, the male was pronounced deceased. The deceased has been identified as Randy M.

HALFMOON — A Cohoes man was arrested Thursday night after police discovered he was driving with 17 license suspensions during a traffic stop for speeding on U.S. Route 9. Rodney M. Smith, 29, was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the 1st degree, a class E felony, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office. The traffic stop occurred at 10:24 p.m. when deputies pulled Smith over for exceeding the speed limit.

PLATTSBURGH — State Police responded to State Route 190 in Plattsburgh at approximately 11:16 p.m. on April 16 to assist the United States Customs and Border Protection with a vehicle pursuit. Troopers observed a gray 2019 Chevrolet traveling southbound at a high rate of speed. The Clinton County Sheriff’s Department and State Police, along with the Customs and Border Protection, pursued the vehicle in an attempt to bring it to a stop.
