CNH recently began a temporary pause on shipments of farm equipment from North American and European factories to assess the global tariff situation. The move will not affect production or parts shipments. CNH is the parent company to Case IH, New Holland and other brands. "This is a temporary move until we assess the full impact of planned tariffs on pricing," CNH Industrial noted in a statement. "There are no impacts to production, and parts shipments continue as planned.

USDA recently unveiled a new strategy to slow the spread of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI), ease the rising cost of eggs and protect the U.S. poultry industry. Ag Secretary Brooke Rollins detailed a new five-pronged strategy to combat HPAI in which USDA plans to invest up to $1 billion as part of the comprehensive effort. This is in addition to funding already being provided to indemnify growers for depopulated poultry flocks.

With days growing longer and the official start of spring about a month away March 20, it will soon be one of my favorite times of the year. It may not feel like it after recent rounds of winter weather, but farmers will head to the field fairly soon as they begin preparations to plant the 2025 crops.
