AbstractChemical disinfection of public water supplies is one of the 20th century’s greatest public health achievements. In industrialized countries, serious waterborne illness, once a common way to die, is now rare. Inorganic chloramines (primarily NH2Cl and NHCl2) are chlorine-based disinfectants widely used in the US to disinfect water.
