1 INTRODUCTION Anxiety disorders (ADs) commonly emerge during childhood, and it is estimated that up to 20% of youth suffer from ADs (Costello et al., 2005). ADs are characterized by persistent and excessive worries, leading to physiological and cognitive symptoms that result in functional impairments in social, academic, and professional domains (Connolly et al., 2007).
