    Apr. 18—Two women were sentenced to probation for their roles in a dog training business where pets were reportedly returned untrained and sometimes covered in feces and underweight. Jennifer Long, 40, and Tabatha Taverna, 48, were both sentenced to up to five years of community control sanctions, according to the Montgomery County Prosecutor's Office. Long also must pay $7,200 in restitution to three of the victims and Taverna owes $2691.24 to one victim.

    Apr. 14—Kettering police said that after a police response in Dayton Monday morning, a total of three stolen firearms and two of the three people involved in a burglary at a gun store have been found. Dayton and Kettering police were in the first block of Livingston Avenue at around 10:50 a.m., where officers located a third firearm stolen from the gun store and took a second identified suspect into custody. Officers also seized a fourth firearm unrelated to the theft, police said.

    Apr. 14—A Dayton man was found guilty of stabbing and killing a man in July 2024. Exco Tremarsean Kennedy, 46, was found guilty Monday in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court of two counts of murder and two counts of felonious assault. He also previously pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated possession of drugs connected to this case. He was found not guilty of one count of tampering with evidence.
