A person at Hook Elementary School reported flames were visible on the second floor of the building, according to a spokesperson for the city of Troy. Firefighters and Troy police confirmed no one was inside the 12 apartments. Crews found a fire on an exterior wall extending into the attic and extinguished it. Six apartments had damage from fire, smoke or water, the city said. The Red Cross was requested to help residents. No injuries were reported.

He is scheduled to be arraigned on May 6. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation into Danial on Sept. 6 after they received a referral from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, according to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office. The referral claimed Danial was downloading child sex abuse material. Investigators searched Danial’s cellphone, computer and online accounts and found hundreds of photos of children in various sex acts, the prosecutor’s office said.

Crews arrived to heavy fire on the first floor and quickly extinguished the main fire, according to a spokesperson for the city of Troy. However, the fire had advanced through the walls and into the attic. While firefighters were working on the second floor, conditions changed and crews had to evacuate. They couldn’t use the stairs and four firefighters had to exit through a second story window and climb down a ladder. Three of those firefighters went to Upper Valley Medical Center to be evaluated.

Apr. 18—Two women were sentenced to probation for their roles in a dog training business where pets were reportedly returned untrained and sometimes covered in feces and underweight. Jennifer Long, 40, and Tabatha Taverna, 48, were both sentenced to up to five years of community control sanctions, according to the Montgomery County Prosecutor's Office. Long also must pay $7,200 in restitution to three of the victims and Taverna owes $2691.24 to one victim.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on May 1. Barker is also facing one count of having weapons while under disability. He previously waived his right to a jury trial for the charge and instead will have a trial by judge. As of Friday morning, a verdict has not been issued for the weapons charge. ExploreBarker is accused of killing 28-year-old Arron Tigner on March 9, 2024, outside Partners Bar, 443 Patterson Road.
