Six 'powerful' ventilation system extractor fans have been unveiled as part of Walsall Council's flagship £32 million waste recycling centre on Middlemore Lane, Aldridge. Construction on the new Household Waste and Recycling Centre and Waste Transport Station was started in August 2024, with the new so locally called 'super-tip' hoping to ease the rubbish and fly-tipping issues in the West Midlands.

More than 3,600 responses from residents, businesses and organisations were collected over a three-month period following a consultation that asked the public for their thoughts on putting the region's bus services back in public control. Of the responses, 75 per cent of people were in favour of putting services under public control (also known as franchising). West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) says this is an attempt to create an affordable and reliable network.

Police have said that two men remain in hospital in a 'serious condition' following a house fire on Shrewsbury Close, Bloxwich, on Monday night. A number of people were evacuated following the blaze at around 9.15pm, which spread to neighbouring properties, with some families being housed by Walsall Council overnight and some taking shelter at the nearby St Thomas' Church.
