It’s been a week. It has been a week since I made Havdalah with my family, my wife, and our three sons. It has been a week since we prepared to send our oldest son back to Israel for Shana Gimel, a third year living at his Yeshiva and working to help inspire the new first-year students. It has been a week since I looked at my phone and saw the news that six more hostages had been found. Found by the IDF. Found in the tunnels under Rafah, murdered by Hamas.

On Aug. 15, 2024, the IRS announced the much-anticipated reopening of a second Voluntary Disclosure Program (the “Second ERC-VDP”) to help businesses address incorrect Employee Retention Credit (“ERC”) claims as the agency continues its compliance work. The Second ERC-VDP will run through Nov. 22 and allows businesses a chance to correct improper payments at a 15% discount and avoid future audits, penalties and interest.

Yesterday, I was stopped in the grocery store. I recognize that living in Memphis, Tennessee, with a Jewish population of roughly 8500, I can stick out like a sore thumb. I was wearing my Kippah, as I do every day, a sign to those around me – I am a Jew. I had stopped at Kroger to pick up a couple of items for the dinner I was making for my family. And I was stopped, completely caught off guard, totally out of nowhere.
