BASF TotalEnergies Petrochemicals’ joint-venture steam cracker at Port Arthur, Texas, was shut down September 5 after a fire ignited in a pyrolysis gasoline (pygas) unit, according to a company filing on September 6 with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. The fire was extinguished, the filing said. A tower in the pygas unit collapsed at the site during the incident, it said. A spokesperson for the JV declined comment on any production impact.
