With just over three years until Los Angeles hosts the 2028 Summer Olympic Games, the event's venue lineup is here. LA28, the Games' organizing committee, released the nearly-complete roster this week, after it was approved by the International Olympic Committee. The committee has long touted this as a "no-build Olympics," meaning the host cities are not constructing arenas or stadiums just for the Games.

CalFire released the last of its updated fire hazard severity maps on Monday, showing a 3.5 million acre expansion of Southern California's zones. The largest increases were in the Antelope Valley and the Inland Empire. It's the first update to these hazard zone classifications since 2011. The Golden State's top fire agency published the color-coded maps to show how much of the state is fire-prone and how intensely a fire might burn.

Five years ago this week, the World Health Organization officially declared COVID-19 a global pandemic. Half a decade later, COVID has transformed - for many - into a much more acute infection. But a chronic condition that develops out of the virus - long COVID - has continued to evolve and infect people, confounding doctors and researchers. The Centers for Disease Control estimates that one in nine people who caught COVID saw it progress into long COVID.
