    Little Toots Park in downtown Steamboat Springs was closed late Monday morning as Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials and animal control officers from the city cordoned off a section of the Core Trail where a male moose was bedded down. David Rehak Suma, Colorado Parks and Wildlife district wildlife manager, said a yearling moose was seen in Little Toots Park earlier that morning, and had bedded down just off the Yampa River Core Trail.

On Saturday, Mitchell climbed Colorado’s highest summit, Mount Elbert, and on Sunday he became the winner of the 44th annual Steamboat Marathon.
