(WOAY) – Bright orange water has been spotted flowing through a stream just below Black Fork Falls at Twin Falls Resort State Park, raising concern among Wyoming County residents and park visitors who believe the discoloration could be mine drainage. State officials told us the cause is natural and not a result of nearby mining. The site, a popular swimming hole and a marked stop on the West Virginia Waterfall Trail, has raised concerns for some Wyoming County residents.

BRADSHAW, WV (WOAY) – As flood recovery efforts continue in McDowell County, federal aid is beginning to make its way through flood-impacted areas to help clean up damage. “Even the strongest person needs help sometimes, and we are here to offer that support,” Mark O’Hanlon, the federal coordinating officer for FEMA Region 3, said. The disaster recovery center in McDowell County opened up at the town hall in Bradshaw this morning.

Welch, W.Va. (WOAY) — McDowell County, West Virginia, is facing a severe natural disaster as flooding has devastated the area. At least one fatality has been confirmed, and there are still people unaccounted for. The Tug Fork River reached historic levels, and rainfall compounded on the flooding with over a month’s worth of rain in just two days. Lives, homes, businesses, and critical infrastructure have been severely impacted.
