Murphy was the second-leading scorer for the Bulldogs last season behind Josh Hubbard with 11.7 points per game. Even with that success and another NCAA Tournament appearance for MSU, Murphy has decided to enter the transfer portal with one year of eligibility remaining. Murphy made the announcement on social media on Wednesday.

Zariyah Edwards was the force in the middle, while CC Warren got the job done at guard. They became a duo that made the first season for coach Matt Wilbanks a success in Starkville. On Tuesday afternoon, the two Lady Jackets signed with the next level as Edwards is going to Kilgore College in Texas and Warren is joining the East Mississippi Community College program.

McGhee set for return to home state with commitment to MSU men's basketball

After the McComb native left Mississippi to attend Winfield High School in Alabama, he went on to play for South Plains Community College in Texas, and Garden City Community College in Kansas. McGhee spent last season at UAB and now plans to return home to play for Mississippi State. He announced his commitment to the Bulldogs on Sunday night and could have two seasons of eligibility remaining due to the junior college rule.

This year’s class was a very special one in that regards class. Mike Proffitt and Ted Milton were members of the very first Mississippi State baseball team that qualified for the College World Series in 1971, while Mitch Moreland earned a trip to Omaha 36 years later during his junior year with the Bulldogs in 2007. Those men were recognized and celebrated during a ceremony last Saturday on the Adkerson Plaza at Dudy Noble Field's Polk-Dement Stadium.

With Friday night's 7-3 loss to the South Carolina Gamecocks to fall to 1-9 in the league, it became the worse start after 10 SEC regular season games for the Bulldogs in program history. Along with their 1-9 conference mark, the Bulldogs also fell to 17-13 overall. That has not made for a very good mood in the locker room.
