San Diego City College celebrated Women’s History Month with the Knights’ women’s tennis and softball teams both in action on Tuesday, March 18. Roughly 200 City College community attendees were given black and pink commemorative jerseys and were treated to lunch just beyond center field at Beck Hock Field. City’s mental health department was also in attendance and reminded fans of future events and resources they provide. The following passages recap each of the days events.

Aamori Daniels is a star in two sports at San Diego City College. But her collegiate career had a rocky start. Daniels, a Georgia native, was cut from the volleyball team at a local school, Fort Valley State, during her freshman after a new coach was hired. She sought out other schools to play volleyball but also wanted to continue her basketball career, a sport she excelled in when she was a Peach County High School student.

The San Diego City College men’s basketball team lost to No. 3 Fullerton College, 61-58, in a back-and-forth battle that saw the Hornets come out on top at Harry West Gym on Nov. 30. City entered play ranked No. 7 in the state with a five-game winning streak, which included three wins in three days at the Home Motors Tournament against Barstow, San Jose, and Allan Handcock colleges, respectively.
