It took time for Jack Eichel to figure out how to be impactful at both ends of the ice. He came to the NHL with a dynamic offensive skill set. He put that on full display this season by scoring a career-high 94 points, which was also a Golden Knights record. But the Knights’ star center has also turned into one of the best two-way players in the league, a statement that would have seemed unfathomable when he was acquired from the Buffalo Sabres in November 2021.

Eighty-two games are in the books. As Anakin Skywalker would say, this is where the fun begins. The Golden Knights’ eighth regular season is in the books after a 4-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia. The next time the Knights take the ice will be in the Stanley Cup playoffs. Their seventh playoff run in eight seasons starts against the Minnesota Wild in the first round, with Game 1 likely on Sunday.

Cassidy said Eichel and Pietrangelo skated today. Doesn't think either will play tomorrow, but "they're getting there." No update on Olofsson and Hague because mostly everyone was kept away from the rink because of the illness. See how things are tomorrow.

This is awesome.

Akira Schmid stopped all 8 shots he faced from The Great 8 on his road to 895 👏 @BudweiserCanada | #KingOfZero https://t.co/TsQBMtAOWT

The illness going through the Golden Knights’ locker room has turned into a good time to test adversity and depth. As such, they’re on the doorstep for a division title. From last night: https://t.co/6obhba67aP
