    FOND DU LAC – Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office has released the name of the SUV driver who died in a two-vehicle crash involving a dump truck May 27. Thomas G. Hechimovich, 79, of Fond du Lac, was struck as he turned in front of a westbound dump truck at the intersection of Fond du Lac County B and County K in the town of Eden. He died at the scene. According to the original news release, the dump truck then also struck a cement truck before driving off the road and into a ditch.

    Blandine House, a residential treatment center, opened a new sober living residence called Humility House. Humility House provides transitional housing for Blandine House graduates. Funding for Humility House came from various sources, including a significant donation in honor of Frederick Petri. The house underwent extensive renovations with support from the city and community contractors.

Several Fond du Lac bars have announced upcoming music acts on their biergarten or patios. FOND DU LAC – An easy summer staple in Fond du Lac is listening to live music on a park lawn or a bar patio. Many local concert series are free to attend, and welcome free-will offerings to help keep them going.

    People can get a free copy of 'Life by the Lake: Stories of Fond du Lac' during a book launch at the library from 6 to 7:30 p.m. May 29. Fond du Lac Public Library has published "Life by the Lake: Stories of Fond du Lac," a new local history book. The book builds upon Cindy Barden's earlier work, "Foot of the Lake," and was written by Daphne Lemke with research from Tracy Reinhardt.

"Life by the Lake: Stories of Fond du Lac" builds on the work of Cindy Barden, whose book "Foot of the Lake: An Early History of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin," has taught local history for almost as long as I've been alive.
