The National Assembly (NA) on Monday passed a resolution demanding the trial of May 9 rioters — who were involved in attacks on military and state installations — “without any delay” and under the Pakistan Army Act, 1952. The resolution, a copy of which is available with Dawn.com, was moved by Defence Minister Khawaja Asif.

Pakistan paid for its first government-to-government import of Russian crude in Chinese currency, State Minister for Petroleum Musadik Malik said on Monday — a significant shift in its US dollar-dominated export payments policy. The first cargo of discounted Russian crude oil arranged under a new deal struck between Islamabad and Moscow arrived in Karachi on Sunday. It is currently being offloaded at the port.

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has decided to keep the policy rate unchanged at 21 per cent for the next two months, according to a press release issued on Monday. India have been fined 100 per cent and Australia 80 per cent of their match fees for slow over rates in the World Test Championship final, the International Cricket Council (ICC) said on Monday. Indian batsman Shubman Gill was also docked 15 per cent of his match fee for a social media outburst after he was controversially caught in the match at The Oval which India lost by 209 runs on Sunday.
