August 7, 2024 ISLAMABAD – PTI spokesperson Raoof Hasan was released from Adiala Jail on Tuesday night after an anti-terrorism court granted him bail in connection with a case pertaining to alleged recovery of explosives. PTI lawyer and spokesperson Naeem Haider Panjutha announced the development on social media platform X. Footage of Hasan’s release also did the rounds on social media and showed him walking away before leaving in a vehicle.

The PTI has postponed its power show, which was set to be held in Islamabad’s Tarnol at 6pm today, after the district administration cancelled the no-objection certificate issued to the party. Earlier this week, the PTI moved the Islamabad High Court to obtain the NOC from the administration. On Thursday, the IHC disposed of the petition when the state counsel claimed that the NOC had already been granted for the rally.

An accountability court on Tuesday granted former premier Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi pre-arrest bail in a £190 million corruption reference. In December, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had filed a corruption reference against Khan and seven others, including his wife, in connection with the Al-Qadir University Project Trust.

Additional district and sessions judge (ADSJ) Afzal Majoka announced the verdict today, which had been reserved on Tuesday.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday ordered a sessions court to make a decision in 10 days on pleas by PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi for the suspension of their sentence in the iddat case. IHC Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb also ordered the sessions court to decide on their pleas against their convictions in the case in one month. The couple were convicted by a senior civil judge on February 3 for contracting marriage during Bushra Bibi’s Iddat period.

The Islamabad High Court on Wednesday allowed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to record the statements of PTI leaders summoned by the agency as part of its inquiry into the party’s social media activity, but warned not to harass them. The FIA had summoned PTI leaders Barrister Gohar and Omar Ayub and party spokesperson Raoof Hasan today regarding the “misuse” of incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan’s X account for disseminating “incendiary content” against state institutions.
