    L’impatto sul clima del gas liquefatto statunitense importato in Europa supera del 28% quello del carbone, finora ritenuto il più sporco dei combustibili fossili. Lo dice una ricerca fresca di stampa. Bisogna aggiungere alcuni elementi. Il primo: il gas liquefatto statunitense rappresenta il 20% del gas importato nell’UE. Il secondo: le maggiori emissioni climalteranti del gas statunitense non sono inserite negli inventari europei dei gas serra.

    Priority question for written answer  P-002376/2024to the CommissionRule 144Dario Tamburrano (The Left)The CO2 equivalent emissions from the liquefied natural gas (LNG) transported from the United States to Europe are 28 % higher than those from carbon[1], since methane is released into the atmosphere throughout the entire LNG life cycle. To make matters worse, almost all[2] US LNG is shale gas. The EU imports 14 056 PJ of gas[3] (2022 data); US LNG accounts for 20 % of this[4].
