James Berney, aged in his 50s and known as Jake, was injured in the incident at the house in Foxdene Drive in Balgaddy just after 11pm yesterday evening. He was taken to Tallaght University hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Gardaí sealed off the house on Foxdene Drive and a forensic examination by members of the Garda Technical Bureau commenced early this morning. The victim was this afternoon named locally as James Berney, known as Jake by neighbours and friends.

Mr Donohoe said packages of up to €2.5bn to help with the cost of living were included in past budgets at times when inflation was at five, 10 or 15pc. “We should not, and I believe will not repeat that again,” he told RTÉ’s Morning Ireland. The man aged in his 50s was injured in the incident at a home in Foxdene Drive in Balgaddy just after 11pm yesterday evening. He was taken to Tallaght University hospital where he was later pronounced dead. A post-mortem examination is due to take place and the local coroner has been notified. The scene remains preserved for gardaí to carry out an examination. The investigation is being led by a senior investigating officer at Lucan garda station.
