The Storm Prediction Center added a 2 out of 5 risk area of severe weather to portions of the region, prompting a CBS 17 Storm Team Alert Day for Monday. This is a hail risk-driven 2 out of 5 threat level, in what is an unusual setup for severe weather in our backyard. A nearby, nearly stationary cold front has cooled the upper levels of the atmosphere, which is increasing the risk for large hail throughout the afternoon and evening.

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — It’s been almost a month since the yellow pine pollen really started to show up across central NC, and pollen levels remain stubbornly high as we enter Easter weekend. Last week’s rain knocked the pollen down pretty significantly from where it was before, with tree pollen levels about a third of where they were in early April. Grass pollen has started to come up — almost literally — through the weeds, and will continue to rise as we head into May.
