For the fourth consecutive year the Rolla High School boys’ tennis squad has advanced as a doubles team to the Missouri Individual State Tournament. The doubles team of seniors Keaton Renaud and Joe Foster took first place in the Missouri Class 2 District 6 Individual Tournament, held Friday, May 2 at the Gillenwater Tennis Complex in Springfield. Foster, sidelined most of the season with a stress fracture in his foot, has only been playing the past two weeks.

The Rolla High boys’ golf squad posted a 292-377 dual meet victory over the Waynesville Tigers Friday, May 2 at Oak Meadow Country Club. Senior Easton Brown was the meet medalist, shooting two-over-par 72. Also for RHS, freshman Canter Bahr and sophomore Dawson Caldwell each shot 73; junior Chancen Jordan shot 74, and senior Chayton Jordan 75. The Bulldog junior varsity team shot 362.

After falling to Jefferson City High last week, the Rolla Bulldogs bounced back nicely Monday, May 5 by knocking off Columbia Battle 6-4 at FCNB Field. Rolla lost at home to Jefferson City 14-2 Friday, May 2. The Bulldogs head into the rest of this week with a 10-11 record. RHS was to play at Licking Tuesday, at Camdenton Thursday (4:30 p.m.) and at Columbia Hickman Saturday (10 a.m.). May 5 – RHS 6, Battle 4: The Battle Spartans took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

For the second time in the past three years the St. James High School boys’ golf team has captured the Four Rivers Conference championship. St. James won the FRC Tournament, held Monday, May 5 at Meramec Lakes Golf Course in St. Clair. In addition, the Tigers were undefeated in conference dual meets. In the league tourney Monday, St. James easily won by 20 strokes.

The Rolla High track squad saw strong competition in the weather-shortened Dale Collier Kirkwood Invitational, held Saturday, May 3 at Kirkwood. The 26-school meet was stopped early due to rainy weather. There were 11 girls’ events and nine boys’ events concluded before the meet was canceled. In the boys’ meet host Kirkwood won with 57 points while Parkway North was second with 28 and Fort Zumwalt North third with 26. Rolla was 11th with 13.
