Alastair Polis and Tasneem Malik say rum is the spirit of choice for many across the city and have launched Bristol Rum Company to cater for the demand. The ‘Bristolian’ collective has spent the last 10 years conducting their own research across “99 per cent of the drinking establishments around Bristol” - and spotted a gap in the market.

    A cafe popular with walkers, horse riders and cyclists on the Quantock Hills has announced plans to close in just a matter of days. The Foxy Bean Cafe in Adscombe has served as a pit stop on the edge of the Great Wood, Somerset, offering homemade lunches, pastries, cakes and hot and cold drinks to lovers of the outdoors for around five-and-a-half years.

    Anger has erupted among staff at a Westcountry hospital over 'massive issues' with parking. Staff at North Devon District Hospital, in Barnstaple, say they have to battle it out to find spaces in an overcrowded, "muddy bog" car park. They say they have been told not to use patient car parks and should instead park 20 minutes away from the site. Staff reportedly have to arrive up to an hour early to get a parking space to avoid being late for work if they don't find one.

    Temperatures are forecast to plummet across Somerset this weekend as a new cold front looks set to make tomorrow the coldest night of the year so far. Met Office forecasters have warned the mercury is expected to plunge after parts of the South West have seen double-digit temperatures for much of November so far.
