The developer wants to put 35 single-family homes on a 4 1/2-acre piece of land, near where Interstate 5 meets state Route 78. The proposed site for the Pacific Lagoon project, which overlooks Buena Vista Lagoon, is nestled in an established neighborhood of mostly single-family homes with sizable yards.

Federal search warrants obtained by NBC 7 on Monday revealed new information about a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement raid at a popular Italian restaurant in South Park last Friday. The investigation stemmed from a tip five years ago, alleging 19 undocumented workers at Buona Forchetta and Enoteca Buona Forchetta on Beech Street had fraudulent green cards, according to the search warrants.

The family of a man who died shortly after he was removed from a downtown San Diego bar and was restrained by responding San Diego police officers filed a lawsuit Wednesday against the city and the officers involved, among others. Gabriel Jesus Garza, 40, was removed by bar security from Star Bar on Jan. 25 for what sheriff's officials described as a "disturbance" in which Garza allegedly bit a security guard.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection's San Diego Sector is experiencing a dramatic shift in its mission due to far fewer asylum seekers and undocumented migrant crossings. CBP is spreading the message that you could be risking your life crossing the U.S.-Mexico border illegally. "Catch and release is now over," CBP Agent Justin Castrejon said. "You will receive serious consequences if you cross the border illegally."Castejon says the San Diego Sector was averaging 1,500 to 2,000 arrests per day.
