Up at 5.45 for the drive up to Taunton to join West Country Blues full to capacity 73 seater coach. Packing my rucksack I realised I’d gone slightly overboard with the food supply- a family sized pork pie, four smoked salmon sandwiches, six beef salad sandwiches, three hot cross buns and a chunky kitkat looked a trifle OTT but I reasoned that if we were delayed on the way home I might be glad of it. Despite a delay due to a crash on the M6 we made good time.

Everton 0 - 0 Brentford I was up at 5:30 due to road works on the M5 with the prospect of driving back from Taunton through Storm Bert. I was telling myself that a good performance would give some comfort whilst battling the torrential rain. With the storm not yet hitting us, we had a good drive in the coach and arrived in plenty of time for a beer with Bill and Ian at The Harlech.

Everton 2 - 1 Crystal Palace Up at 5:45 am, allowed the dogs out to pump ship then picked up my mate at 6:15. We got to Costa at Taunton Services to grab a much needed coffee and we were on our way on the coach by 7:45. The journey up to Goodison was uneventful with the sausage rolls I’d bought the day before from my favourite coffee shop in Bovey Tracey being the highlight.
