    The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) a study on the cost of long-term care (LTC-Care provided at home) and poverty among older adults. It highlighted the increasing rates of expenditure from public services as well as people’s own finances for the cost of such long-term care provided at home. In some instances, it was noted that individuals in OECD countries could be paying more than half of their total monthly income for the cost of care at home.

    In France, the Prime Minister has been removed by a vote of no-confidence. President Macron has led the country for the last 6 years. His legacy now appears to be a country in crisis and a badly run economy. French parliamentary representatives have just delivered the long-expected verdict on incumbent President Macron’s decision to appoint the conservative Michel Barnier (who negotiated Brexit on behalf of the EU) as Prime Minister.

    The SNP led by Nicola Sturgeon have messed up a huge opportunity for the independence movement to participate in a second referendum for Scottish Independence, yet no one accepts responsibility. Hubris and political naivety alongside failure to see through a programme of government has led to a major loss of power. Within the UK there have been some major political and societal upheavals that could have garnered the necessary support for such an event yet have not.
