For decades, the state has legally wielded the authority to set standards with regard to affordable housing within each municipality. Since the New Jersey Supreme Court decision in 1975, Stafford Township hasn’t been immune to meeting its obligation for developing such housing, and the time has arrived for a new round of development. This time around, township officials are challenging the number devised by the Fair Share Housing Center.

Russell Griffin apparently doesn’t mind immersing himself in thankless jobs, at least to some degree. “Right now, he works very hard at managing the budget, and he does all the internal affairs investigations,” Stafford Township Police Capt. Ken Sciattarella jokingly said during the opening portion of the council meeting on April 1, moments after Griffin was sworn in as the newest captain among the ranks.

The Stafford Township Police Department’s Youth Police Academy is a fun, interactive and educational experience designed for future leaders entering sixth or seventh grade, and it’s back for another year. A regular summer tradition, the Youth Police Academy, set for July 7-11, will be on tap again at police headquarters, and applications are now being accepted.
