What says welcome to the busy season on Long Beach Island more than the Women’s Auxiliary of the Surf City Volunteer Fire Co. and EMS beach bargain bazaar? For those who answered “nothing,” pat yourselves on the back and make sure you are available Saturday, June 14. The event, which will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the firehouse, located at 713 North Long Beach Blvd., will feature furniture, houseware items, jewelry and so much more for sale. All proceeds will benefit the fire company. —G.G.S.

Green thumb or no, the St. Francis Community Center’s upcoming floral arrangement workshop will ensure participants leave with a beautiful display. Register now to attend “Succulents By the Seashore” from 3 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 5. The workshop will be held in the hall of the St. Francis Catholic Church, at 4700 Long Beach Blvd. in Brant Beach. “Bring garden gloves, and a personal hygiene donation for the food pantry,” organizers request. Cost to attend is $35.
