    A few weeks ago, I was sitting in the back of the TV studio in the Communications Department and smiling. I was there for the weekly Castleton Spartan newspaper meeting, and I was smiling because there were 18 students in there with me. Again, this was a meeting of the school newspaper and of the 18 students there, only four were receiving course credit for being there.

    Whitehall graduate P.J. Ferguson went to Nashville in November 2020 – during the heat of COVID – to chase his musical dreams. The now 28-year-old was basically broke, and the sparse, early gigs he did land were mostly solo and often playing “to tables and chairs.”He had auditioned at the iconic Tootsie’s when he arrived, but the owners and booking agents weren’t even there – just him and the house band, so he didn’t expect much from it.

    It’s a spectacle from the outside – and honestly, spectacle is probably not doing it justice. One minute it’s a huge yellow emoji poking up from the asphalt and winking at you and a second later it’s a blob of lava lamp colors swirling above the Las Vegas skyline. Get inside the Las Vegas Sphere, however, and the spectacle meter gets cranked up to 11 (I hope that Spinal Tap reference landed).

    There’s a burgeoning golf cart culture these days, especially around lakes and campgrounds, and Chris Kelley and his son, Ozzie Hughes, are trying to take advantage of it from what had been a long-vacant storefront on Route 149 in Queensbury. Kelley on Monday was just taking delivery of a new line of lower-cost Denago models that offer buyers lots of options including 9-inch video screens and bumping sound systems, at prices lower than the higher-end models.
