His patron, George Herbert, the fifth Earl of Carnarvon, and an avid collector of Egyptian antiquities, told Carter he was cutting off his funding after the season.

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — There was a buzz in the air Friday in northwestern Washington state as about 250 million honeybees escaped a commercial truck that overturned. The truck hauling an estimated 70,000 pounds of honeybee hives rolled over about 4 a.m. close to the Canadian border near Lynden, the Whatcom County Sheriff's Office said in social media posts.

QUEENSBURY — An inch of goalpost separated the top-seeded Queensbury boys lacrosse team from overtime Friday, leaving the Spartans with a 10-9 Class C semifinal loss to Averill Park on their home turf. Queensbury senior Keith Miller's final shot hit the post with four seconds left in regulation. NEW YORK (AP) — New York City police are investigating two detectives who worked security at an upscale Manhattan townhouse where a man says he was kidnapped and tortured for weeks by two crypto investors who wanted to steal his Bitcoin, a city official said Thursday. One of the detectives serves on Mayor Eric Adams’ security detail and is believed to have picked up the victim from a local airport and brought him to the townhouse, the official said.
